We believe in quality service, strong relationships, and building a robust local food system.

The Kane Family

Shannon and Taylor Kane are the founders of Sage and Stone Butchery and the owners of Wild Grown Farm, where they raise pastured poultry in beautiful Central Oregon. Rooted deeply in family values and a commitment to place, their work is driven by a shared belief that resilient local food systems are essential to healthy communities.

Shannon, who grew up in Redmond, brings a lifelong connection to Central Oregon and a deep understanding of the region’s agricultural landscape. Taylor grew up in Portland and came to farming through a desire to build meaningful, hands-on work that aligns with ecological stewardship and community well-being. Both hold graduate degrees and bring a thoughtful, systems-based approach to their businesses, blending practical skill with long-term vision.

Through Wild Grown Farm, the Kanes have built a pasture-based poultry operation centered on animal welfare, land stewardship, and transparency. Their expansion into poultry processing with Sage and Stone Butchery reflects a natural next step- addressing a critical gap in local infrastructure while supporting fellow farmers and strengthening the regional food economy.

At the heart of their work is family: not only their own, but the broader community they serve. By investing in local processing capacity, Shannon and Taylor are helping ensure Central Oregon farmers have reliable, values-aligned options to bring food from pasture to plate. Their goal is to build systems that last- resilient, ethical, and rooted in the place they call home.
